Gaining the Edge: Assistive Technology for Education, Employment and Entertainment

Individuals who are blind or have low vision, and professionals who work in the field of blindness and low vision, will be afforded the opportunity to experience hands-on access to cutting edge technology and to participate in training to enhance their knowledge of available assistive technology.
Exhibits will be available from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Joel Snyder, an expert in the field of audio description, will be conducting a workshop for professionals interested in the production aspects of audio description. He will also give a keynote address regarding audio description focused on the consumer’s experience. This will include: an overview of audio description; tips on how to access and how to advocate; how audio description can affect employment, education, and entertainment.
The Alumni of the Alabama School for the Blind, in collaboration with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services and the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind, extends an invitation to participate in this tremendous experience.
